Aquatic Coral reef response

To start off, I really like what Sylvia Earle had to say and what she liked to do. It was not only interesting but pretty cool. My response to that is that it's not good that the aquatic biomes of not only the Atlantic but all over the world are being pushed away and destroyed. The limiting factor is human disturbance and and the rapid climate change of the water that is affecting the population of the reefs. This would be called the density-independent limiting factor. The predator-prey realtionship is not affecting the population decrease as a limiting factor like the weather and climate changes are. High tempreatures could wipe out coral around the world and take nutrients from the species. Density-dependent limiting factors like competition and parastism are not affecting the population growth as much as human disturbance, which Sylvia Earle is trying to protect the reefs from. My personal connection to these biomes is that it affects me in many ways by way of nature and what people get from coral reefs but other than that I don't have personal connection. The rule humans play in the bioshpere is that we either use it for recources or help destroy it. Steps need to be taken like Sylvia Earle is trying to do to protect it. I don't think that people are completly oblivious to the impact on this biome so I think people are some what aware of it but not educated about the matter enough to do anything to help the issue. It is not anybodys fault it's just the truth. The health of the coral reefs is not the best at this time. Seasonal cylces and unusal weather is changing the daily climate of the biome which is affecting the species and the population size. The species don't need more space and recources as mucg as the biome is just being destroyed.

Power Balance Bands

1. My thinking on the bands is that it is more of a mental help than a physical help. What I mean is that people who believe in them do better and try harder because they think it's going to help with all that stuff they are supposed to help with. I've got nothing against that, it's fine with me on what other people like. I don't think they're very effective at all. I have a little evidence. My first thing is that if it is supposed to make more flexiable and quicker, it is impossible just by putting a band on. The way to get flexiable is streeching and keeping in shape. I've done all those things for a long time and it makes a difference, but does take time to develope. My other evidence about how it's a mental thing more than physical is this; I did some of the tests, not really expecting any change, it didn't work for me. It didn't work for other people who didn't much care to believe it works. It was just the oppisite for the people who believed in them. Like I said, I've got nothing against them at all but I just would not dish out "30-80 dollars" for something that is questionably worth it.

2. My hypothesis is that the Power Balance Bands will not work. I would test to prove this by having people wear them, and other people not. I wouldn't tell the people who wear them what they are supposed to do so they don't try or anything more than they normally would. I would test both groups with them on and off. I would compare the results of all of it and see if I was right or not.

3. The reason you need to look at all facts, point of views, and evidence, It's like jumping straight to the answer without even investagating. You could be like me and not believe in them but like they way they look and that would be your eveidence. You just can't do it. You need facts and evidence to prove your hypothesis. If not, it's pointless to say your theory on the matter. All sides need to be looked at before a hypothesis can be formed, investagation can be conducted of conclusion can be found.
